I'd like to be a star while alive
Whenever you affix your eyes on me
I'd rather be a bright and beautiful star

I'm longing to be a star
I feel like being a star even after I'm dead
I shall be a large and serene star
So that I may brilliantly shine on your image

If you should be such a star for me
And I be such a star for you
If the pure love between you and me
Should sparkle like a star

I want to be a star
A star in a night sky is what I wish
Or that star in the blue sky of day
At the point most dear to you
